About Catubig

Catubig is a landlocked municipality situated in the province of Northern Samar, within the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines. Positioned along the banks of the Catubig River, it lies in the northeastern part of Samar Island. The municipality encompasses an area of approximately 217.02 square kilometers and, as per the 2020 census, has a population of 32,174 residents

Historically, Catubig holds significance due to the Siege of Catubig in April 1900, a notable event during the Philippine–American War where Filipino forces engaged U.S. troops in a four-day battle.
The municipality comprises 47 barangays, including several in the Poblacion area, and is characterized by its rich cultural heritage and natural landscapes.

Inspired by the Waray term "Paglaum" meaning "Hope," Project Paglaum empowers a deserving student from Catubig to pursue her dreams of graduating from the special education program.  The Student, whose financial limitations threatens her aspirations, will now have access to Bachelor  of Special Needs in St. Scholastica’s College, Manila.

In turn, this empowers them to uplift and support children with special needs in Catubig, Northern Samar. With heart, experience, and purposeful action, our team works tirelessly to bring about meaningful and lasting change.
